Introduction

Nepal Academy of Tourism & Hotel Management (NATHM)formerly known as HMTTC was established in 1972 by Government of Nepal with the technical assistance of UNDP/ILO to produce skilled manpower required by the Hospitality and tourism industry. Eversince it's birth the Academy has played a crucial role in developing the human resources for this industry with the aim of enhancing the level of quality in services. It has been providing craft and supervisory level skill oriented training to cater to the demands from this particular sector. This premier Academy is renowned for generating qualified workforce for the ever-increasing demands of the Hospitality and tourism sectors.

As the industry has grown rapidly over the past decades, the need for professionally trained higher-level manpower is evident. The Academy, in consultation with the industry, has launched the three years Bachelor in Hotel Management (BHM)Course from 1999 and three years Bacelor in Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM)Course from september 2003 in affiliation with Tribhuvan University to fulfill the needs of supervisory-level manpower in the Hospitality and tourism industry.

Furthermore, in order to cope with the ever increasing demand for the managerial level manpower in the hospitality and tourism industry, NATHM is planning to conduct Master's level course in hospitality management in the near future.

The mission of NATHM is:"Helping to build career opportunities in the hospitality & tourism sectors through quality education"

Objectives: Based on the mission, the objectives of NATHM are:

  • to produce trained and skilled workforce required for the hotel and tourism industry
  • to conduct long term higher level academic programs to produce managerial level personnel
  • to provide consultancy and carry out survey and research for the development of tourism.

Physical Facilities:To complement its on going and future activities NATHM realise on the following physical facilities spread over an area of approximately 1.5 hectares (29 Ropanis):
